Waiting On Wednesday (16): The Temptation

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine where you have a chance to let other know what you can’t wait to claim as your own.

by Alisa Valdes
Expected publication: April 24th 2012 by HarperCollins Publishers

His touch was electric.
His eyes were magnetic.
His lips were a temptation....
But was he real?

After crashing her car on an empty highway, Shane is miraculously saved by Travis, a mysterious cowboy who walks out of nowhere. She is instantly attracted to him, and for the first time, she believes in “soul mates.” But Shane soon discovers that Travis is dead and that strict rules from the Underworld govern kindred spirits of different dimensions. Breaking these rules could destroy both their souls. And while Travis is almost impossible to resist, temptation proves to be the kindest enemy they encounter.

Can true love surpass the power of pure evil? Part love story, part supernatural thriller, this first book in the Kindred trilogy will leave readers lusting for more!

Why I need this: HELLO?!?!?!!? Hotness is oozing from this book!!

Number 2 it sounds very similar to Existence by Abbi Glines, which is another book I JUST LOVE TO DEATH!
Number 3 the cover it just f*$ing amazing!
Finally Number 4 I'm such a sucker for love stories! I always love seeing how authors overcome the whole forbidden romance/ break the rules love! So this book just looks amazing!!

Review: Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver

First off I have to say HAPPY BOOK BIRTHDAY TO PANDEMONIUM!!!!! I'm so excited about this book, and I hope you all enjoy!

"That's the flip side of freedom; When you're completely free, you're also completely on your own."

I'm… this book… oh just DAMN IT ALL TO HELL!!!! LAUREN what did you do!?!?! I still don’t know what to say about this book! It’s so different that Delirium yet still just as amazing!!!!

by Lauren Oliver
*an ARC was provided by someone from HarperCollins (not sure who, it was a surprise in my mailbox), in return for an honest review*

I’m pushing aside the memory of my nightmare,
pushing aside thoughts of Alex,
pushing aside thoughts of Hana and my old school,
push,
push,
push,
like Raven taught me to do.
The old life is dead.
But the old Lena is dead too.
I buried her.
I left her beyond a fence,
behind a wall of smoke and flame.

Lauren Oliver delivers an electrifying follow-up to her acclaimed New York Times bestseller, Delirium. This riveting, brilliant novel crackles with the fire of fierce defiance, forbidden romance, and the sparks of a revolution about to ignite.

Now this is a spoiler review if you haven’t read Delirium yet! At the end of Delirium, Alex sacrificed himself so Lena could get away. And we were all screaming NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO nooooo you can’t do that!! WHY WHY WHY!!! Funny how I'm saying the same thing at the end of Pandemonium but for TOTALLY different reasons.

Pandemonium is told in a “then” and “now” time frame. “Then” takes place right after Delirium. We follow Lena thorough the fall and winter months and deal with her struggle in the wilds without Alex, trying to survive on her own with no guidance and no help. We feel her heartbreak for Alex and her determination to continue for him, but she soon gives into the darkness and pain. The Wilds try to claim her and suck her in and for a moment she wants nothing more than to give in, disappear in the forest floor, forget the pain and the fact that Alex isn’t here. And for a brief moment, she does. When she is awoken again, it’s by strangers. She is soon found among a group of others in the Wild in a settlement, working to find her place, despite her recent injury. We follow Lena learning her way in the Wilds. Finding her place with the others and what it means to survive and truly live and love; and sadly also lose.

The “now” follows Lena during the springtime where she is deep in the resistance and spying on the DFA (Deliria-Free America). The DFA wants harder standards for the cure and is pushing to lower the age limit, despite the risks. The DFA is so committed to the cause, and are so willing to show how dangerous Deliria is, that they are willing to sacrifice one of their ow; the founders son and leader of the youth division, Julian Fineman. With a history of seizures, brain tumors and brain surgery, he knows the cure could kill him, but in the world of the DFA, catching Deliria is worse than death.

Lena is just a spy; silent and just observing the DFA. There is a HUGE DFA rally coming up, and Raven and Tack ask her to keep an eye on Julian. But on the day of the rally, the Scavengers make an attack. And both Lena and Julian find themselves kidnapped.

I love this book so much!!! I was scared because I loved Delirium so much I was like can Lauren really live up to the perfection that was Delirium!!! And I have to say that I was pleasantly satisfied!!! It still had the same essence and wonderful exploration of emotions that we first saw in Delirium but it was worlds different!!!

Pandemonium has a lot more action in it and it will get your heart racing!!! It really puts you in Lena’s shoes because she is going though these intense struggles and she always on the run. When you read an action scene, you feel your heart race, your adrenaline pumping and your fingers tingling to keep turning the pages faster and faster. And when you reach a rest point at the end of an action scene, you let out your breath you have been holding. You feel like you have been there with the character fighting right alongside of them, or running with them. And this book does this SO many times! And just when you think that you are safe, BAMN! Something else is happening. It’s never resting. Just like Lena. You don’t get to rest until she does, and she never does. And I think that makes a stronger connection to her.

What I loved the most about Delirium and Oliver’s other work, is that she has an incredible ability to describe emotions and really make you feel the raw energy that they are. And in Pandemonium, it’s no different. You really feel the emotions that Lena is going though! You feel her pain, her heartache, her hopelessness but you also feel her fight for survival. This is less about love and more about the other emotions that come with love, anger, pain, sadness. With every good emotion there is a counter emotion. Being “infected” means that you feel them all. And you find Lena asking herself if it is worth it? Is everything she experienced with Alex and all the promises he had her worth it?

Now I know the now and then can be annoying sometimes because you finish a chapter and go OH NO!!! I wanna know what happens! And you’re like damn I gotta get through a different story line! But then you start reading the next story and you forget all about the other story! And then that story line ends the chapter and you go NOOOO oh wait I was wondering what happened! Its brilliant!!! Frustrating but brilliant!!!

Lauren did this brilliant thing with Lena, the THEN story is building up to this new Lena, a deliria infested, strong minded new human. And then NOW story is revealing this old Lena, almost reverting backwards. But they both a building and intertwining into this totally different Lena you see on the last pages.

Lauren did a very different thing with her character that I have seen before. I noticed that the THEN Lena is discovering and struggling and growing into the NOW Lena, while the NOW Lena is almost doing the opposite. She is reverting back to the THEN Lena, but they are both working towards the middle, which is the Lena in the last chapter.

The Lena just after the escape is working on being stronger and learning to survive in the Wilds. She is finding out who this new Lena is and who she wants to be. This now Lena is almost to strong and to engrossed in New York that she almost forgets that she is actually part of something bigger. She has lost who she is to fit it with what her mission is. And while she is going though this new mission from Raven, she starts to realize that she has lost who she is and starts to work back into the Lena from before.

They both are working at the same time, in different direction and different points in her life, but both achieving the same objective.

And yes there is a new guy but man! It’s done almost as perfectly as Clockwork Prince. Now don’t get all freaked out because there is a new boy in it!!! As much as we hate it and as much as we wish it didn’t happen, it did! But it’s done and you know honestly I'm so torn because I was like YES fall for Julian and let Julian get it and know what love is all about!! Please please please!! I know you love Alex but you should know what other love can give you! And then I go all oh but what about Alex!!!! You love him and I know he isn’t dead!! Oooooooo!!! Totally torn!! But in such a good way! Like when you tear a tortilla in two for fajitas!!! One was great, but two is even better!

Pandemonium is one of the most amazing sequels to a book that could ever be! Its intense, action packed and touches on all of your emotions the way that only Lauren can. Your fingers will tingle, your heart will beat up your sternum to be released from its cage, and you will have to fight the urge to do this:
Because DAMN IT ALL TO HELL! This is the WORST CLIFFHANGER EVER!! If you don’t like them, then wait! I'm not kidding! You know when you are reading that its coming but it still hurts and it SOOO OMG!!! I almost regret reading this book early because I have to wait even longer to read Requiem! But damn did I love this book still!

You will feel sad, happy, angry, scared and totally pissed off at the ending (which I have to say is *#&^#@@_#(**amp;&$^) but its one of the best books I have read this year!

"I wonder if this is how people always get close: they heal each other's wounds; they repair the broken skin."

Teaser Tuesday (16): When the Sea is Rising Red

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can tease others.

Here’s how:
  • Step 1: Grab your current read.
  • Step 2: Open to a random page.
  • Step 3: Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page. Be careful not to include any spoilers so as not to ruin the book for others.
  • Step 4: Make sure to share the title and the author so other TT participants can add the book to their TBR piles!
And that’s now you make a successful tease (as far as a book goes).

By Cat Hellisen
The band members exchanged confused looks, but carry on playing and the crowd just cheers more, singing until they are breathless. Dash hugs me closer to him with one hand and I hear the whisper in my head like an echo.
“Oh, you are interesting one, little House Lammer,” he says and I smile dreamily.

ARC p. 148

This line just makes me want to read more so bad!!! Its getting very interesting and very good! I have to say I'm really starting to enjoy this book, after I got past all the new language and lingo!

What do you think? Sexy?!?!
What is your tease?

Top Ten Books I'd Give A Theme Song To (and please tell us the song and why you'd pick it for the book!)

Oh man I have been dreading this all week!!! I have a hard time putting music to my books so I think this will only have about 5! I'm just not good at it!!! If you have any suggestions PLEASE send them my way!!!

I don’t always associate music with books. One reason is that I tend to listen to movie scores to0 much and I don’t like radio! But sometimes I do come across a song that is like YES! That’s fits this book GREAT! But not very often! (I linked up all the song titles to iTunes so you can listen to them if you want!)

Mumford and Sons whole album for books by Cassandra Clare I mean seriously!!! Have you heard this album!!! It’s AMAZING!
All of the following are from M&S

For Jace in City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare
In the scene where he slept with her, God every time I hear this song (which is a lot cuz I'm crushing hard on M&S) I'm thrown right back there! It’s like his inner evil demon is asking if he can really love her! With no regrets and be what she needs you to be for her! Ugh!!! watch me cry all over the place I have never NEVER felt so strong for a song and a book in my life!!! This is the only reason that I'm not skipping this weeks Top Ten!!!

For Will in Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare
Man its such a conflicting song and I know that if we ever get to get in Will’s head, he feels this way. His head tells his heart to say yes, but his heart says let this one go. I mean COME ON!!!! He wants to love Tessa but not hurt Jem! UGH!!!! And still please him self!! And there goes my heart! Breaking again!! DAMN IT!

For pretty much any breakup or desperation in a relationship. But it can mainly be for the relationship between Kellan, Keira and Denny in Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens. UGH! It’s just so heartbreaking to hear!! Ugh and it’s just so primal and raw!!! Damn I love this song!!! And I can do this for Travis and Abby from Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire also because she tried and he just CRUSHED HER! Damn! It’s for anyone that gives everything into a relationship and something STUPID happens!

For Travis and Abby from Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire
Their whole relationship is f*&ked up but they work together! And this song is great for the part (well you know, I wont say because its spoilie but DAMNIT why did he do that)!!! But what’s funny if I think that they would both feel the say way to each other. UGH!!!!!

For Rowan in Perigee Moon by Tara Fuller
I can picture this as part of a prequel/prologue to this book. In this book the Rowan attempts suicide after her mother dies in a tragic fire. She has the ability to feel emotions so she keeps feeling the sadness from everyone and can’t take it and tries to take her life. And I can just see an opening where you see the fire and her spinning out of control and the whole tragic scene! Yes like the Glee episode, which had me BAWLING! But damn it’s just perfect!
42 by Coldplay
For Sam in Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver
I can just picture this song playing during the first crash and then the ending. Aside that the lyrics are perfect the rhythm and pacing of the song is just beautiful! Man! Listen to it!!! It’s so amazing!!!

Give a Little More by Maroon 5
For Christian and Anna in Fifty Shades of Grey Series by E.L. James
If you have read this book, you know what more means to these two!!! And the line that says I'm not falling in love with you till I get a little more from you baby describes them perfectly!!!

Princess of China by Coldplay & Rihanna.
For Alannah in Mark of The Princess by B.C. Morin
This song just sounds so great for the start of this book. We find Alannah running away from everything she doesn’t want. And running through the woods, the music and everything in this song is so great and perfect!!!

Stutter by Maroon 5
For Katy in Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I know that everyone is all what about that song by Katy Perry ET that is better and yes it is good, but eh its not perfect! Whenever Katy is near Daemon or around him she gets (in her mind at least) kind of tripped up and all flustered by him. And just the tempo of the song I can picture Daemon all cocky walking around high school and Katy getting all flustered!!! UGH! That’s what that man does to me anyways!

Candy Man by Christina Aguilera
For FIFTY! In Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James
Haha this song is just cracking me up because it pretty much describes PERFECTLY! And the effect he has on all the ladies that read about him. Hehe with working up an appetite and panty dropping! Oh man! Haha this song is just to fun!!!

Dance in the Dark by Lady Gaga
For Calla in Nightshade by Andrea Cremer
I listened to this song a long time ago and was like OMG that Calla! She will only let herself be free in the dark when no one is watching her. Having to be a strong alpha female for her pack she never lets loose. And I can actually see a scene where Ren is watching her from afar through her window, when she thinks that no one is watching, just dancing with her iPod to this song. So love it!

Wooo *wipes sweat off my brow* How did i do??? Think that they are a good choice for book?? What would your top ten sound like?

My name is Beatrice. When I was born, I was blessed with the Sight. I was immediately removed from my parents and enrolled in the Institution. At the age of twelve, I had my first true vision, earning my raven’s wings. And when I turned seventeen, one of my visions came true. Things haven’t been the same since.

The Institution depends on me to keep the City safe from our enemy, the Dreamcatchers, but I’m finding it harder to do while keeping a secret from everyone, including my best friend Gabe. It is a secret that could put us all in danger. A secret that could kill me and everyone close to me.

But the enemy has been coming to me in my dreams, and I think I’m falling in love with him. He says they’re coming. He says they’re angry. And I think I’ve already helped them win.
Ok how AMAZING does it sound?!?! I love visions as a power! I can’t wait to get my hands on this book!!!

Like the way it sounds?

Ok so tell me, what do you think?? How amazing is this side profile??

Well fear not ladies, because he gets his own story!!! That’s right!! The Vincent Brothers is all about Sawyer!!

So my treat for today is the reveal for the oh so sexy cover of The Vincent Brothers!!!! EEEEEEE and it goes so well with the first book!!!! Really!!! It has more sugar on it and sexy lips and the colors are just so fresh!! Hehe ok well I guess I have tortured you enough!!! Here it is!!

Well what do you think?!?!? It’s totally dirty and totally amazing all at the same time!!!!

And even more goodies from Abbi!!! Here is the synopsis for the book!!!!

The Vincent Brothers
By Abbi Glines

Expected publication June 5, 2012

He may have given her up without a fight, but Sawyer Vincent is far from over losing the girl he’s loved all of his life. Instead of giving up his best friend and the girl he thought he’d spend forever with, he gave Ashton and his brother Beau his blessing. However, adjusting to seeing Ashton wrapped up in Beau’s arms isn’t easy. Complicating everything even more, Ashton’s cousin Lana is in town for the summer. Sweet, kind, soft-spoken Lana, who gets under his skin. Just being near her makes him forget all about Ashton and his broken heart. Lana is everything he wanted Ashton to be except she isn’t Ashton. She lacks the backbone to stand up for herself and confidence that Ashton wears like a crown.

Lana McDaniel has lived her life in her cousin's shadow. While Lana struggled with her grades no matter how hard she tried, her mother praised Ashton's intelligence. She hadn’t been blessed with Ashton’s blond hair and flawless skin, but that didn't keep her mother from lamenting her naturally red hair and freckles. But none of that would have mattered if Ashton hadn’t always had Sawyer Vincent wrapped around her finger -- the only boy Lana wanted. Once Ashton let Sawyer go, Lana had been so sure that he’d move on. Determined to make Sawyer finally see her, she'd talked her mother into letting her spend the summer with Ashton. But Sawyer is still in love with Ashton, and Lana isn’t going to be anyone's rebound girl. No matter how yummy Sawyer Vincent’s kisses taste.

Ugh! My heart is already speeding up and getting prepared for breakage!!

And the last little treat from Abbi is a play list!!! Seriously this woman is to amazing for words!

Get a playlist! Standalone player Get Ringtones
What do you think?? How cool is the cover? And are you still torn between Sawyer and Beau???

Waiting On Wednesday (15): Onyx

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine where you have a chance to let other know what you can’t wait to claim as your own.

Onyx
by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Expected publication: August 14th 2012 by Entangled Teen

Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town.

The Department of Defense is here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

Why I need this: I honestly don’t think this needs an explanation!!! Seriously!!! Come on!!!! I CAN NOT get enough of Daemon and with it being the Book Birthday for Shadows (HAPPY BOOK BIRTHDAY!!!!) yesterday, I'm all over this right now!!!! The major sucky part is that this was pushed back! But even more amazing is that it will be available locally!!! So we can all drool over daemon in out BN! Oh Jennifer how I love your work!!!!

Are you eagerly waiting for more Daemon???

Top Ten Books I'd Quickly Save If My House Was Going To Be Abducted By Aliens (or any other natural disaster...you get the drift.)

Haha well since I have been reading so many eBooks lately most of my collection is on my nook! So that would DEF be what I grab on my way out (right after I get my computer, dog and boyfriend (maybe not in that order!)

But ok ok ok you want a list of books so I guess I could tell you!

So all of my nook books consist of
Fifty Shades Series by E. L. James
Half Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Existence by Abbi Glines
I honestly don’t know what I would do without these books!!!! They are just so vital to my existence (hehe sorry for the pun) and I think I would cry if I didn’t get my eBooks out!

Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire
I CAN NOT live without these books!!! Even though I have them on my nook, there is something so special about having and actual copy! And HELLO have you seen the cover of Obsidian! I know you have because I pretty much plaster my blog with Daemon photos like a teenager plasters their walls with Bieber photos from Tiger Beat!! And yes it's the old cover! When the new mass market one comes out I'll have that also to grab! (hehe I wonder if the aliens that come to my house are like Daemon, cuz if they are then I would let them take me! Hehe ok back to the list) That and I have to sleep with my copy of BD under my pillow for sweet dreams about Travis!

My signed copy of Everneath by Brodi Ashton (it has the Dead Elvises stamp in it!)
My signed copy of Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
I have many signed books but these two are super special to me! I won the one from Brodi and I just LOVE IT! It’s such a different signature because I have the awesome Dead Elvises stamp on it and its just cant be turned into ash! And then my copy of Shatter Me! Tahereh is to amazing for words and I just need to keep my book! Damn it!!!

Infernal Devices and Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

Does this need any explanation at all??? I can not fathom my copies of these being left for aliens to do who knows what with! It would ruin me!! All the fond memories I have of Will and Jace and Jem going poof! NO THANK YOU!!!! The only way these books will be destroyed is if I accidentally thrown them in a fire because its so damn heartbreaking and AHHHH GOODO! Which almost happened. Oh Clockwork prince, my heart still stings when I think about it!

Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver

Pandemonium ARC by Lauren Oliver

I really LOVE my Oliver books! My ARC of pandemonium is so special to me even though I still don’t know how I got it!

Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer
Again, do these need any explanation?!?!?!?! Yea you can always buy new books, and most of my books really aren’t super specials (I mean they aren’t any first editions of twilight or HP) but there is some connection you have with the pages of the book when you read them for the first time!

Divergent by Veronica Roth

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
It would be a real shame if these disappeared before I got a change to read them! I know I know some of the most amazing books ever and I have yet to touch them!!! Just give me more TIME!!!!!!

So tell me, what would you grab?
