Top Ten Tuesday (21): Books I Want Turned Into Movies

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. Who doesnt like to make lists?!?!?! They make life easy! And fun!!!! And it's always a never ending topic!!!!

Top Ten Books You'd Like To See Made Into A Movie

I feel like I'm always answering this question all the time (I just answered, what books make you nervous to be made into a movie for a Follow Friday, and you can read all about that HERE)!!! If you would have asked me years ago what books I wanted to be movies, I would have said EVERY BOOK I EVER READ!!! And now, I have become a bit greedier! I dont want books into movies! I think sometimes it takes the magic out of it. I didnt understand why people would be against books becoming movies, cuz I was like ITS THE BEST THINGE EVER! I get to see whats in my head on the big screen! And now I understand. Some books are so magical and events that occur in your life when you are a book just hit you. And when you have such a strong image of how the book is, you dont want to see it interpreted by someone else. So I have gotten pickier about what books I want to see as movies!! And as you notice, I didnt put my fav book of all time on there (Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire). As much as I would love for this book to explore (is already exploding, and doing amazing, CONGRATS Jamie) but I just dont want it to be a movie, its just too near and dear to me!!!

Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout

I dont think this needs an explanation. Seriously, its just amazing. If you dont know about it, drop everything and read it! Then you will know why!

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

I know this is already going to be made into a movie, but I'm just so excited for it!! I felt this was such an amazing book and so much goes on. I just cant wait to see how its going to play out and the whole well you know, I dont want to spoil to much, but the Quarter Quell will just be amazing!!! Seriously!

Sweet Evil by Windy Higgins
Ok so I just finished this book and I'm so in love with it!! I think it would just be such a fun ride and oh man Kaidan! Geez I want to see his sexy, lusty ass on a big screen!! Mmmm oh baby! Sorry, I'm getting distracted!

Everneath by Brodi Ashton

I have a thing about wanting to see the bad sexy boys in a big screen (ie Kaidan from Sweet Evil, Daemon from Lux series and now Cole from Everneath) I just would love the see this one come to life!

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

I think that this movie would just be beyond AMAZING!! Seriously. This book is so original the writing so dynamic, that a movie would only complement this book!

The Assassin Series by Toni Aleo
I don't know about you, but I haven't see too many hockey romance movies out there!! I know that I for one would be watching this OVER AND OVER!!! Oh damn, can you just imagine Lucas and Shea on the big screen! OMG I DIE!!! Mmmmmmmm I'm sorry, I'm off in dream land.

Covenant Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Again, I seriously dont think this needs and explanation!! This would just be an amazing movie!!!

Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare

I love this series more than TMI and I just want to see this series be a move! I think its more complex and the characters more dynamic and god do I ever love a period movie!! Seriously, the costumes alone will be phenomenal!

Paranormalicy Series by Kiersten White

There is so much going on in these movies, it almost reminds me of Buffy, where it would just be a great paranormal movie and just fun!!

So I cant wait to see what everyone else picks!! You think these books would make great movies? Did I miss something?

Teaser Tuesday (25): Sweet Evil

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can tease others.

Heres how:
  • Step 1: Grab your current read.
  • Step 2: Open to a random page.
  • Step 3: Share two (2) teaser sentences from somewhere on that page. Be careful not to include any spoilers so as not to ruin the book for others.
  • Step 4: Make sure to share the title and the author so other TT participants can add the book to their TBR piles!
And thats now you make a successful tease (as far as a book goes).

by Wendy Higgins
Wowza. He was smokin hot. As in H-O-T-T hot. Id never understood until that moment why girls insisted on adding an extra t. This guy was extra-t worthy. ~ARC p. 10

Wait, I said, sitting halfway up. Not my legs. Theyre I was too embarrassed to finish.Theyre lovely. His face was straight, but his eyes were smiling. No, please. I pulled my knees protectively up to my chest and mumbled, I didnt have time to shave this morning. Now he laughed. It was a marvelous sound, so rich. All right, fine, no legs. But youre missing out. I'm not through with you. Roll onto your stomach and relax again. I obeyed, letting my arms lie limp at my sides and closing my eyes. Somehow it seemed a little safer to be on my tummy. ~ ARC p. 131

Oh hot damn people!!! Seriously this book is just making me crazy!!! I was up till 4 am reading because I COULD NOT STOP!!!! I read the most in one sitting with this book and I still need more! Its just making me crazy all over! Damn!!! There are just so many things I want to put up for today, but I had to limit myself to just two!! Hehe I gotta save some of it for you to read yourself! I hope you enjoyed a taste of Kaidan, cuz I know I sure do!!

What is your tease?

Guest Post: Toni Talks Playoff Beards

Toni and Shea himself, with his beautiful
playoff beard!
So I have a special treat for you all today!! We have Toni Aleo, author of the Assassins series, and avid hockey fan here with a really sexy guest post about hockey playoff beards and why guys are hot with them! This just made me giggle so much I needed to share it with everyone! So please, ENJOY!

The playoff beard and why guys with them are hot!

by Toni Aleo

Thats Shea Weber.
Thats the start of his gorgeous playoff beard.

I dont know where my lusty needs for beards come from but I have them. My husband has never been able to grow a beard but he has his sexy mustache and I love it. I do. But when playoff season comes around and all my hot hockey players look like woodsy, mountain men, my heart goes into over drive.

Maybe thats why the playoffs are the most exciting time ever to me. Maybe its the lusty needs in me to see a man skating around with his massive Sasquatch beard, knocking people around and scoring goals. I dont know. But its hot. Before we go into the hotness that is the playoff beard, lets discuss why my hot hockey boys grow them.

According to Wikipedia, the tradition started in the 1980s by the New York Islanders. Once in the playoff, the guys dont shave until their team is eliminated. If they lose a game during their seven game series, some guys are known to trim it up just to see if it changes their luck. It is practiced throughout all the NHL, NCAA, and the minor leagues. It has also spread to the hockey leagues in Europe. Even fans are known to grow their beards out to give their team luck. Great things have come from this tradition, one being the Bread-A-Thon campaign. It has raised over one million dollars for NHL charities. No one knows if it is just superstition or if it really does help the guys win, all that is known, is that everyone grows a beard at the start of the playoffs.

Now that we have a history, we can discuss the different kinds of beards. Shea Weber is known for his Sasquatch beard. Opponents on the ice are generally scared crapless when Shea comes towards them with his massive beard and scary eyes. I am not scared and I usually run towards him. He is gorgeous without the beard, but with it, its pure magic. It makes me want to run up and rub my nose all throughout it!
Just like Shea, Joe Thornton, from the San Jose Sharks has a Sasquatch kinda beard. Its fuzzy and big, and I, for one, dig it. Doesnt it just make you want to run your fingers and nose through it? Or is that just me?

Todd Bertuzzi, Patrick Sharpe, and Henrick Zetterberg all do the cleaned up kind of beard. I dont feel they really follow the tradition since they are known to cut and clean up their beards. I like my beard wild and scary but these guys do the beard justice.

There is also the neck beard. Its weird and I dont understand it, but Tyler Seaguin from the Boston Bruins is scrumptious with it!

Then you have the cutie patootie guys, the young bucks, that cant grow themselves hot beards. So this happens. Jonathan Ericsson is a beautiful man, and I, for one, love that this happens instead of a big scary beard.

Some of the guys dont think that the playoff beard is enough. Kevin Klein decided her was going to do a Mohawk too. Funny thing is, he started a trend and now almost all the Nashville Predators have Mohawks.

While I love the playoff beard, sometimes they can go horribly wrong and this happens. This is when playoff beards are not hot and no matter how much you think it will help you win, please help us little people and shave that mess!

So really, after reading this, you have to admit, you like guys with beards too. So why dont you go to your couch, turn on your TV to NBC sports and check out some hot hockey guys with beards.

Believe me, you wont regret it.

GO PREDS!

Review: Struck by Jennifer Bosworth

I was about to be murdered by gravity, but time slowed enough for me to feel a world of regret for the things I had done wrong, all the bad choices Id made, the people Id hurt.
Maybe it was better this way. Easier for everyone if I disappeared into darkness. At least then I wouldnt do the terrible thing Jeremy claimed I was going to do.
My heart and my stomach stayed where they were as the rest of my body began to plummet. ~ARC p. 195

Struck is an electrifying debut that will leave your fingers tingling and your skin prickling with excitement. Your heart will race and your mind will wonder, as you find yourself following Mia as she struggles with a decision that can change the world, forever.

By Jennifer Bosworth
Expected publication: May 8th 2012 by Farrar, Straus and Giroux BYR
*I received an Advanced Reading Copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. No money was exchanged for this review.

Mia Price is a lightning addict. She's survived countless strikes, but her craving to connect to the energy in storms endangers her life and the lives of those around her.

Los Angeles, where lightning rarely strikes, is one of the few places Mia feels safe from her addiction. But when an earthquake devastates the city, her haven is transformed into a minefield of chaos and danger. The beaches become massive tent cities. Downtown is a crumbling wasteland, where a traveling party moves to a different empty building each night, the revelers drawn to the destruction by a force they cannot deny. Two warring cults rise to power, and both see Mia as the key to their opposing doomsday prophecies. They believe she has a connection to the freak electrical storm that caused the quake, and to the far more devastating storm that is yet to come.

Mia wants to trust the enigmatic and alluring Jeremy when he promises to protect her, but she fears he isn't who he claims to be. In the end, the passion and power that brought them together could be their downfall. When the final disaster strikes, Mia must risk unleashing the full horror of her strength to save the people she loves, or lose everything.

Mia price is addicted to lightning. Being stuck countless time, she has developed a six sense for storms. Her family moved to LA after a devastating accident forced them to flee their home. And they hope that L.A. is safe from the strikes, because dont you know, it doesnt rain in L.A. But that was short lived when a massive storm and subsequent earthquake devastate the city.

A month after the quake, Mia and her brother, Parker, are starting back at school (how horrid would that be to still go to school with the end of the world coming?) but its only to get food rations. It doesnt take long for the new cults that have formed after the quake to seek Mia out. The Seekers, the Followers, and a strange boy in Clark Kent glasses all have their sights set on Mia, and all for different reasons, and she wants nothing to do with any of them, well maybe except for the cutie in the glasses.
Welcome back, Miss Price. His gravelly voice put my skin on edge. Mr. Kale always sounded like hed been garbling broken glass. When he read aloud, whether it was Dickens or Shakespeare, he made the prose sound like it came from a hard-boiled detective novel. ~ARC p. 59
In this book we follow Mia on her journey to live her life how she wants it and with a struggle of who to trust. Her mother is locked in a PTSD/ASD zombie state and her brother is falling in line with the Seekers. The Followers gang up on her and try to maker her see the light and she has a surging urge to kiss mystery boy.

I was so excited to be able to have a chance to read this book. A girl struck by lightning multiple times, charged with energy and needed to save the world? Sounded like an original winner to me!!!! I was really excited to see where this book would take me. And damn it sure was a fun ride!!!! But this book was short of absolutely perfect because of a few points that just drove me crazy! And the big one was its HEAVY religious theme. SERIOUSLY! I have no problem with that stuff, but I was hoping for something different then an end of the world good v. evil story, especially when it wasnt mentioned anywhere in the synopsis. Other than the romance being a bit weak, this book was a thrill ride!
I have to touch you with my hands for it to happen. He raised his hands, palms up, as though in surrender. As long as these stay on the handlebars, your safe. So I can touch you, but you can't touch me? He nodded frowning. For now, he said, and the implication made my hot blood boil over again. Moments later, I was clamped onto Jeremys back with the insides of my thighs pressed against he outside of his as we hurtled though the Waste at a speed that seemed suicidal considering the state of the roads. ~ARC p. 221
What was shocking was this book took place over three days. I normally like a book that takes place over a longer time but for some reason this worked for me. It was different but in a good way. The story went along at a nice place, not rushed or choppy. You dont think you get to know someone and a world in such a short time frame, but this one does a fantastical job! I find myself wanting MORE!!!!

I really wanted this to be more of a paranormal end of the world, not book of revelations end. If it was more paranormal, this would have been a just a perfect book for me. I dont know. I mean seriously though this was a fantastic book. Its filled with a lot of action and mystery and loyalty. But that part of it just threw me off. Its like oo an original book and then BAM! Hit with the religious wrecking ball. And its not just a little bit of oh I'm a Christian, its more like have you found the light? you will do to hell without us!! There is a LOT of end of the world, Book of Revelations, seals breaking, followers in with that are the 12 apostles and the false prophet. It was just a bit much for me and felt like an easy way out. But the rest of the book was so amazing and different that I was able to push past that and really enjoy this book.
Jeremy went to adjust his glasses before realizing they werent there. Id always thought it was ridiculous that no one recognized Clark Kent when he was superman. Now that id fallen for such a simple disguise, it didnt seem so ridiculous. ~ ARC p. 316

I also felt like the relationship between Mia and Jeremy could have been done better. I did enjoy it very much and was rooting for them. There were just some themes around them that could be better. And it was a bit unbelievable at times. I think I'm starting to get a bit bitter with my romance in books, I sometimes feel like books are just throwing romance in there more out of obligation and not spending enough time developing and delivering it properly. But overall I still really liked these two together.
And then I was on fire, and I was the fire. The pain was more than pain. A word had not been invented to describe this pain, because it was also perfect. An agony of pleasure. ~ ARC p. 363
Overall, Struck is a stimulating read. It will grab you with its talons and wont let you go until the last page. Jennifer has a wonderful stand along book that is a thrill ride and will leave you breathless and with your own set of Lichtenberg marks.
I smiled. Then I saw how Jeremy was studying my face, his brow creased with worry. What? I asked. Whats wrong?
He shook his head. Nothing, he said, and began removing his white button up shit.
What are you--- I glanced down. Oh. I tried to cover myself, but I didnt have nearly enough arms. The rovers and Seekers who ringed the Tower graciously turned their eyes away from my nakedness, but I caught quite a few of them checking out the strange marks on my body.
Jeremy held out his shirt to me, but he made no effort to avert his eyes. He was seeing me, naked, lightning scares and all. I searched his face for evidence of revulsion, but there was only him. The lightning scar on his chest stood out starkly against his bare skin, like a red star exploding. ~ARC p. 365-366
