Waiting On Wednesday (59): Twisted Perfection by Abbi Glines

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine where you have a chance to let other know what you can’t wait to claim as your own.

by Abbi Glines
Expected publication: April 22nd 2013
Life outside of her house was a new experience for Della Sloane. The dark secrets of her past weren’t something she ever intended to share with anyone. They would never understand. No one would ever get close enough to find out. Besides there was always a chance she’d go crazy sooner than they expected…

Woods Kerrington had never been one to be attracted to fragile females. They seemed like too much work. He wasn’t in it for the work just the pleasure. A night full of naughty fun had been exactly what was on his mind when he’d laid eyes on the hot little number that didn’t know how to pump gas and needed some help.

What he didn’t know was she was as fragile as they came.

The carefree girl who spoke her mind and didn’t care what the world thought of her was more breakable than he could ever imagine…
Why I need this: HELLO!!!!! WOODS GETS HIS OWN STORY!!!! WHY YES PLEASE!! And excuse my caps there, I just get way to excited with Abbi books!!! Love the cover (ugh to much sexy) and totally CAN NOT WAIT!! Even though its like less than 30 days, but that is just so far away!!!!!

What are you waiting on?

Cover Reveal: Frigid by J. Lynn (Jennifer L. Armentrout)

by J. Lynn (Jennifer L. Armentrout)
Expected publication: digital formats on July 30th 2013, Print release of Frigid will be November 5th 2012 from Spencer Hill Contemp
For twenty-one-year-old Sydney, being in love with Kyler isn't anything new. They'd been best friends ever since he pushed her down on the playground and she made him eat a mud pie. Somewhere over the years, she fell for him and fell hard. The big problem with that? Kyler puts the 'man' in man-whore. He's never stayed with a girl longer than a few nights, and with it being their last year in college, Syd doesn't want to risk their friendship by declaring her love.

Kyler has always put Syd on a pedestal that was too high for him to reach. To him, she's perfect and she's everything. But the feelings he has for her, he's always hidden away or focused on any other female. After all, Kyler will always be the poor boy from the wrong side of tracks, and Syd will always be the one girl he can never have.

But when they're stranded together at a posh ski resort due to a massive Nor'easter, there's nothing stopping their red-hot feelings for each other from coming to the surface. Can their friendship survive the attraction? Better yet, can they survive at all? Because as the snow falls, someone is stalking them, and this ski trip may be a life-changer in more ways than one.

My thoughts: THIS COVER IS SEX ON A BOOK!!!!! REALLY!!! SHP has outdone themselves with this cover! I love it and I want to print it out and take it to bed!! I was so excited to hear about this for SHC and now that it has a cover, it makes the waiting so much harder to tolerate! I love it and I can't wait to see what happens at that resort! Tell me, what do you think???

The Crimson Hunt by Victoria Smith Blog Tour: Luca Interview & Giveaway

by Victoria H. Smith
College junior Ariel Richmond is working on year three of Project Normalcy.

Her house reeks of keggers past and her bestie is just a slight bit vulgar. But the thing is—they both aid in making life refreshingly uneventful.
So much for hard-earned mediocrity when Luca Grinaldi appears on the scene.

Luca’s sudden presence on campus is hard to ignore. Those bright eyes act like a beacon to unsuspecting females, and with features like his, he’s got to be moonlighting for GQ. Luca hopelessly captivates Ariel with his confidence and charisma, but the mysteries surrounding him make him nearly untouchable. And just when Ariel grows close enough to unlock his secrets, a tragic event sends her life in a downward spiral.

That steady life is no longer an option and allies quickly become scarce. The mysterious Luca seems to be the only one willing to help her—but with that trust comes the burden of his secrets. He has a dark mission of otherworldly proportions, and is willing to sacrifice as many lives as it takes to see it completed.

Gone are the days of simply maintaining normalcy, and if Ariel isn’t cautious with her trust, so soon may be her future.
So I am super excited to bring you Luca today! He is charming, dreamy and everything you want in a super sexy hero!!! I hope you will all enjoy this interview, it's rather exciting!!! So here we go!!

Tara: Hey sweetness, how are you doing today??
Luca: Good afternoon, Ms. Turner. I am doing quite well. Especially since I get to spend this beautiful day with you.

Tara: Awe shucks! You made me blush. I'm so ready to grill you! So let’s get started. Please butter yourself up and hop on my grill.
Luca: *gives Tara a quant smile for her cheekiness*

Tara: Hehe just kidding, maybe…
I hear that you are the outdoors type, what about it draws you to the outdoors? And what is your favorite activity?
Luca: There is just so much I enjoy about spending my time in nature. I suppose the environment reminds me of better days, a time when life was simpler for me. When I lived in Italy as a child there was a lake by my home. I found myself spending lots of my time there, breathing in the air and the world around me. At night was the most enjoyable. Looking into the onyx night filled with stars allowed me to really see the beauty of the world and what stretches far beyond it. Our environment really can speak to us if we listen. These days, I enjoy running. I tend to stay in more remote areas for this. Just more peaceful that way.

Tara: So Mr. Tall, Dark & Mysterious, tell me, why so tight lipped?? I'll bet you have a sexy voice, why not let us ladies hear it more?
Luca: *smiles faintly* I believe our words tell so much about ourselves, but our actions can show quite more. Actions can display who we are far beneath the surface. Besides, I am sure you would find me quite boring if I were to speak all day, Ms. Turner.

Tara: Oh I don't know about that.  There is something enjoyable about listen to a mans voice all day.
Tell me, what is something that tickles your fancy?
Luca: As dull as this may sound, I do enjoy learning. I could spend hours in a library obtaining new knowledge. I believe understanding the world around us can helps us expand who we are as individuals.

Tara: You know, you are lucky, out of all the bloggers in the world, you picked the one that loves to learn also! You put on the History Channel and I'm hooked!
Describe yourself in 3 words.
Luca: Professional, logical, and curious.

Tara: Describe the perfect day. Who would you be with and what would you do?
Luca: A perfect day for me would be spent far outside of the city, away from all the restrictions that surround me in everyday life. It could be as simple as a walk or a drive. If I spent that time with someone else, I would like it to be with a girl I just met in school. Her name is Ariel. If she would have me of course.

Tara: If you could have one wish, no questions, what would it be and why?
Luca: Freedom. In so many ways.

Tara: What is something that baffles you?
Luca: People. Though they more so fascinate me than baffle me. There are just so many different types, and even more to learn and understand about them.

Randomness:
Red vines or twizlers? I am ashamed to say I have not had either. Whichever one is sweeter I suppose. I enjoy sweet things, Ms. Turner. *smiles at Tara* (The correct answer (yes there is a correct answer to this,) would be Red Vines!!!! Come to a movie with me some time and you will see!)
Coke or Pepsi? These both taste quite similar to me. I have no preference. I find I like them both.
City, Beach or Mountains? Mountains.
Burger or steak? Steak.
Day or night? Night.
Would you please get naked? *smiles with a bit of shyness*
Brown, Green or Blue eyes? I find myself fancying the color blue more and more these days.
Blonde, Brunette or Red Head? I believe these are all equally beautiful.
Favorite Place? Home.
Cat or Dog? I enjoy them equally.
Coffee or Tea? Tea.
Snow or rain? Rain.
Soda or Juice? Juice.
Twitter or Facebook? Though I find myself not spending much time on either—because of obligations at school of course—I would say Twitter.
Ghost or Zombies? Ghosts.

And lastly, my favorite way to finish my interviews, can I get a kiss from ya??
*Grins at Tara*
Of course.
*Gives a slow kiss of her hand while holding direct eye contact. Releases her hand even slower.*

Ever the gentleman aren't you! My that was lovely! Thank you Luca, it is a real pleasure to have you here.

Wait For You by Jennifer Armentrout/J. Lynn Blog Tour: Review

“I’m confident enough in my masculinity and sexuality that I can say that Ryan Gosling is just dreamy in this movie.” ~Kindle Locations 1583-1584)
by Jennifer Armentrout/ J. Lynn
Some things are worth waiting for…
Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe—please God—make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.

Some things are worth experiencing…

Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.

Some things should never be kept quiet…

But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?

And some things are worth fighting for…

When you say Jennifer Armentrout is writing another book, but will be under her pen name, J. Lynn there are a few things that go through your mind:
You will fangirl a moment
You realize it’s under J. Lynn which means STEAMYNESS!
But it’s still from Jen so you want it now, now, now!!!
Now that will happen and not necessarily all in that order. And it is what I experienced when I heard that she was going to release a New Adult book. I was so excited and had such high expectations. And I saw a couple others read it (Kay and Val, you lucky ducks) and they totally loved it. So I was really excited because I love Jen. And I love all her books, even though I haven’t read every single one yet (hides from the flying stones) I was excited to see where her talent would take her without an age restriction. I mean some of the scenes between Daemon and Katy are so hot my books start to steam. So when the opportunity to sign up for the blog tour came around I jumped on that like a mad hatter. Val’s approval of me for the blog tour brought on more fangirling moments and then the time to hunker down and read the puppy!!!

So I read the book and well, I hate to say this but I didn’t totally love it. I didn’t hate it, but I wasn’t in love like everyone else was. I think I might have become a bit harsh lately. My reading funk hasn’t helped much. I'm wanting something epic and amazing and looking for something completely unique and if a book doesn’t have that then I get a bit disappointed. And I think that is what happened with this book. This book came with such high expectations that it just didn’t live up to them for me. Its how I feel about Divergent and Vampire Academy. I don’t hate them, but I'm not head over heels in love like everyone else. I finished the book and can say I don’t regret reading it, but I wasn’t head over over the moon in love like I’d hope to be.

I cam across a review on Goodreads that stated “My largest complaint about this book is it uniqueness. Namely, I think that it is entirely lacking in it.” And for me that perfectly sums it up for me. If you read the rest of that review, it pretty much states perfectly how I feel about this book. I didn’t feel that this book had a uniqueness to it that would have had me enjoy this book more. The book was predictable and just didn’t break the mold to be a stand out NA read.
Cam looked absolutely thrilled to hear that. “You’ve been checking me out, haven’t you? In-between your flaming insults? I feel like man candy.”~Kindle Locations 1109-1111
Now this is the part of the review where I might be considered mean and I might start to receive some bad looks but I have to be true to my readers.

I felt like Jen was following a checklist on how to write a NA book.
Sexy hero who is:
  • Dark hair
  • Blue eyes
  • Built like a tank but soft and still sexy and his junk is impressive
  • A panty combusting machine
  • The town player.
  • He’s got dimples.
Our leady lady is:
  • Pretty, but doesn’t think she is.
  • Had something happened in her past that was horrible (and I admit what happened was shitty, but again for me, predictable).
  • Moved away from sad past to a new place to start over.
  • Is dumb and awkward around the hot boy.
On the plus side for Cam, he isn’t a bad boy (I mean I love a bad boy, really I do, but it’s nice to have one that is just a sexy man whore.) Also there were times when our Avery was being a dumbass and he didn’t tolerate her shit!! I was a big kudos for me!!!
Now miss Avery pissed me the fuck off. The only other leading lady that pissed me off more from a novel was Kiera from Thoughtless. I honestly don’t think she will be topped but Avery came close. Is it really so shocking that Cam walks out on you when you keep pushing him away?? NO!!!!! Seriously!!! Like you keep pushing people away you will push them right off a cliff. Hello!!! And what kind of person walks around totally mute and wide eyed all the time when a hot boy is around?? Seriously. I get a first glance like WOW who the fuck is that fine piece of meat, but every damn time!!! Ugh. Just ugh!

Continuing our check list:
  • We have the gay best friend. I do enjoy a little humor and his personality, but just again, typical.
  • Totally awesome new best friend.
Now I have to say I never mind the totally awesome best friend in these novels. Brit was AMAZING and I seriously want to see a novel from her. Like I really want her and Ollie to get together. Just saying. Although I could have done without the mayo and fries. That’s just nasty!! And speaking of Ollie, again a totally awesome best friend. I found the secondary characters more interesting than the main characters! And I'm just going to call Ollie the Daryl of the story. And if you don’t know who Daryl is, then you really shouldn’t be reading this because I don’t know the heck you are!!!
But their mood was contagious and I found myself laughing as Jacob tried to convince a guy at another table that if a zombie bit a vampire than it would become a zombie vampire while the other guy was convinced that it would become a vampire zombie. ~Kindle Locations 1398-1400
Again there were a few things that kept me reading this. If it wasn’t a Jen book I would have stopped. I didn’t enjoy that Cam didn’t take any of Avery’s shit and I enjoyed the secondary characters. ALSO I love the fact that Jen pretty much puts a whole bunch of her twitter jokes and tweets into her books!! It lets us readers know that she is interactive with her fans and that is just awesome!! Like the whole zombie/vampire argument just cracked me up. Plus all the Supernatural references. You can never go wrong with Dean.
Mmmmm Dean…swoon.
Overall Wait For You is a decent read. If you are exploring the NA world and want something great to read then this would be it. If you are an Armentrout/Lynn fan then you totally want to pick it up. I look forward to more books in this series and hopefully the voices will be unique and can captivate me the way Daemon has. Even though this book wasn't unique enough for me I still really enjoyed it. And looking over my notes and all (yes I take notes while reading) I'm finding this book a bit swoonable. Still, this book was enjoyable but not unique.
“What are you up to?”
“Oh, you know, mischief and mayhem,” he replied.
“That so reminds me of Harry Potter,” Brit said, sighing. “I need a re-read.”
We all turned to her.
Two bright spots appeared in her cheeks as she tossed her blonde hair back. “What? I’m not ashamed to admit that random things remind me of Harry Potter.”
“That guy over there reminds me of Snape,” Cam said, jerking his chin to the table behind us. “So I understand.”
The guy with the jet-black hair did kind of look like Snape. ~Kindle Locations 1212-1217

Second Rate Chances by Holly Stephens Blog Tour: Excerpt & Tour Giveaway

by Holly Stephens
Sam wakes up in the hospital expecting to find his girlfriend by his bedside. Instead, he finds a bleached-blond diva, claiming to be his fiancĂ©e, hovering over him. When he learns that he's just woken up from a coma and has lost the last three years of his life, any semblance of stability he thought he had falls down around him. All he wants – all he needs – is Lil.

After countless visits with her shrink and too many sleepless nights waiting for the one man she loves to walk back through the door, Lil wants nothing more than to separate herself from the life she used to have. But the moment Sam smiles at her, Lil knows it's going to take more than self-restraint to stay away.

Second-Rate Chances is about a young man fighting to regain his memory, and the one thing in his life that felt real. A modern-day Samson and Delilah, it's a look at what it means to love and be loved, and to fight though it seems hopeless.

The door opened, the bell sounding off loud in the empty room. Sam turned his head and was grateful it was Kane. He walked over, patting him on the back as he sat in the vacant stool to Sam’s right.
“You holding up okay?” he asked.
“We’re about to see,” Sam replied.
Just then, the door opened again and Sam’s stomach knotted up. He looked at her walking toward them, determination in every step. Her face was drawn tight, a sure sign that Ellie wasn’t happy.
She stood at the bar, keeping the empty stool on his other side as a barrier between them. Ellie put her purse on the wooden top, and then placed her hand on her hip, cocking it to the side.
With a cool tone and an inverted brow to go with her penetrating stare, Ellie said, “You know I’m going to kick your ass, right?”
“Let me explain,” Sam reasoned.
“Oh,” Ellie said in a dramatic fashion and rolling her eyes. “You damn well better. And I expect it to be good. No bullshit, Sam. Not this time.”
By the time he explained his side of the story with what happened with Lil, which had coincided with what Ellie had been told, he started the pitch that could help him get the love of his life back in his arms. When he was done, he waited for what seemed like days for Ellie to speak.
To help ease some sort of response out of her, he added, “If you help me, I promise you I’ll make this up to you. Whatever it is, consider it yours.”
“Sam, you don’t owe me anything. Lil on the other hand, you owe her so much more than some second rate, second chance.”
Hoping Ellie could see the honesty reflecting in his eyes he said, “I’m not asking for a second chance with her, Ellie. I’m asking for forever.”
About Holly
People have often told me that I live in a fantasy world. Little did they know, I was building an empire of stories in my head to one day share.
I'm a mother first, a wife second, and a writer third. I'm so thankful to have been given this chance to get my stories out of my head and onto paper.
When I'm not writing, I sell plumbing (no I'm not kidding) and read romances that leave my heart a flutter. I know a ridiculous amount of pop culture information and can quote certain movies word for word. Music drives me to write and to also sing off key.

That is, until she discovers pursuing her dreams may mean forfeiting her heart. Unless she can find a way to have both…

Don't miss the rest of the Jane Austen Academy series, where sassy girls, hot guys and Jane Austen collide!
Book 1: Fall For You (Lizzie)
Book 2: So Into You (Ellie)
Book 3: When I'm With You (Kat)
The Jane Austen Academy series are modern retellings of Jane Austen classics set at a beachside California boarding school.
The last thing that the girls at the elite Jane Austen Academy need is hot guys to flirt with. But over the summer the school has been sold, and like it or not, the guys are coming. And it’s about to turn the Academy—and the lives of its students—totally upside down…
Kat, Josh, and Izzy stood alone in front of the haunted house on the main street of Bande’s ghost town.
The floodlights cast an eerie glow on the dirt beneath their feet, and strange shadows haunted the nooks and crannies of the abandoned building’s corners.
Josh tilted back his head as his gaze traveled from the front porch to the steepled roof. “Who said it was haunted?”
“Everyone.” Izzy counted off on her fingers. “Megan. Ben. Ceecee. AD. Everyone in town. The list goes on.”
Kat glanced nervously back at the main tent, which seemed farther and farther away as night dimmed the world around them. “Should we have brought flashlights?”
“Flashlights?” Josh harrumphed. “We may as well not bother going in at all.”
“This is a perfect time to go method,” Izzy said. “It’s an actor’s responsibility to gather experiences and feelings and use them in our work. Have you ever been truly terrified?”
“No,” Kat said, feeling weirdly mortified about it.
“So now—if you were ever to, I don’t know, portray a victim being chased by a crazed serial killer, you’ll have something to draw on.” With that, she walked up the creaky steps to the front porch. Kat followed like a grateful puppy. The loose floorboards gave and groaned beneath her sandals.
The front door was boarded up, so they inched around the porch to the side door. Izzy pulled open the screen and took a deep breath. The dark mouth of the door swallowed them as they stepped inside.
Kat felt Izzy’s firm hand on her shoulder. “This is so creepy,” Izzy said softly.
They walked through a small foyer with short doors and a crooked chandelier. Kat felt colder and clammier with every creak and whine of their steps as they continued further into the darkness.
Josh stopped suddenly and reared up. “What was that?”
Kat grabbed his arm and pulled tight as the three of them clustered together.
“Stop freaking us out,” Izzy whispered.
But Josh pointed to the ceiling, where the chandelier had begun to…swing. Right, left, right, left, it swung in a rhythmic motion that couldn’t have been explained by wind or their walking into the room.
Kat’s heart jackhammered against her ribcage and her breath shortened. “Let’s get out of here.”
“It’s just a draft from the door opening,” Izzy insisted. “Come on, we have to go on.” She gestured to the stairs in the corner and continued forward.
Kat froze—not wanting to go forward, but too scared to go back by herself. She scampered after them as they made their way, feeling in the dark, until their hands reached a wood railing of a curved staircase illuminated by a thin sliver of moonlight from a skylight.
“Look! What is this?” Kat kicked her toe against the bottom step. Names were carved into the wood with short, blunt stabs. One name on each step.
“Victims?” Josh asked.
“Shut up,” Izzy said.
“Well, what is it, then?” Josh said.
“Probably just the prostitutes who worked here. It’s an old madam’s house.” Izzy urged them up the steps.
Kat whimpered as she followed. The stairs groaned with each step, screeching through the house. “Did anyone die here?”
“Everyone died here,” Josh said.
A shiver raked down her spine. She could swear the darkness was drawing in and the air cooled and pressed them together.
“The location scout said something about a flu that took down the entire town in 1918,” Josh went on in a whisper. “Their bodies were left here for days.”
The chandelier jerked violently and swung.
